CANCERCARE’S festive fun run is weeks away and the charity is urging people to put on their Santa hats and sign up for the one mile dash.
Now in its second year, the local cancer support charity’s Santa Dash and Reindeer Run is on Sunday November 17, as part of the activities to celebrate the switch on of Kendal’s Christmas lights.
The registration fee includes a free Santa suit for the adults and reindeer antlers for the under 11s, participants are also asked to try to raise sponsorship for CancerCare.
The dash itself starts on Stricklandgate at 2.30pm with a fun warm-up led by Dance Attik at 2.20pm and finishes at Abbot Hall, where you can see Santa’s reindeers and join the procession back into town for the official Christmas light switch on.
Whether you run, walk, jog, dance – the mile-long route is suitable to for all ages, and is fully accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Jane Staniford, fundraising team leader, said: “The Santa Dash is a great way to raise money for local people who are affected by cancer – as well as having lots of fun with your friends, family or colleagues in the lead-up to Christmas. What better way to start this Christmas?”
“Taking part is really special – and you can’t fail to have fun when you’re surrounded by Santas!” To take part, you can pre-register before 14th November at www.thesantadash.org.uk.
