SKIES across South Lakeland will be lit up with a host of organised firework displays over the coming week.


One of the most spectacular is the pyrotechnics organised by Kendal South Westmorland Rotary Club which attracts hundreds of people to Kendal Castle.


The fireworks will explode into life at the Castle Grove side of the castle starting at 7.30pm.
 

Other displays are as follows:


*Cartmel Fell Community Trust will host a bonfire party on November 9, starting with a lantern procession from the Parish Hall at 6pm. There will be storytelling round the Bonfire with servings of mulled wine as the fireworks light up the sky as well as a childrens lantern competition. Tickets are available from Bowland Bridge Stores, adults £8 and children £4 which includes a hotpot supper.


*The Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel’s fireworks display will be bigger than ever this year when it is staged on November 5. The Royal Windermere Yacht Club has been selected as the recipient of net proceeds from the event from 8pm. A ticket to the extravaganza costs £15 for an adult, £12.50 for children aged 12 and £40 for a family of two adults and two children. Food is served at 6.30pm.


*Gleaston Village Hall and Green Committee will open its doors on November 5, with a selection of homemade soups, hot and cold drinks, and bonfire treats including burgers, hotdogs and cakes. A bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm followed by a firework display at 7pm.
 

*Holme Parish Council’s firework display supported by local industry and private donations will be held in the church gardens on November 5 at 7pm. Hotdogs will be on sale.


*The annual community Guy Fawkes bonfire and firework display will take place at Hawkshead Recreation Ground on November 2 from 6pm. Snacks will be available to buy with family entertainment throughout the evening.


*A firework display and bonfire will take place at Bolton-le-Sands on November 2. The field gates will open at 6pm. Main Street will be closed to prevent traffic congestion and for safety reasons private sparklers or fireworks will not be allowed on the display area.


*Appleby's annual community bonfire and firework display on Fairhill near Appleby starts at 6pm on November 5. Hot food and drinks will be available. A family ticket for 2 adults and up to 4 children costs £8. Adults £3, children £2.
