AN elderly man from Crook was killed in a car crash on the A591 near Kendal on Friday teatime.
The 82-year-old, who has not yet been named, was attempting to cross the dual carriageway in his Honda Jazz car from Sharps Lane towards Ratherheath Lane when he collided with a white Ford Transit van heading towards Windermere.
Both vehicles spun off the road but the driver of the van, who was 20 and from Barrow, escaped unhurt. The busy A591 was closed for four and a half hours after the incident, which happened at 4.30pm.
