Holme couple raise cash for cancer charity
4:40pm Monday 4th November 2013 in News
A couple from Holme have raised £1,200 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation by organising a ‘mega raffle’, silent auction and quiz at local pub The Smithy Inn.
Ian and Margaret Hayter spent weeks planning the event, gathering 47 prizes from friends and local businesses before selling tickets across the area.
Ian even spent several days in his local Booths and Asda stores selling tickets in order to reach their fundraising goal.
There was also a silent auction for a picture by local artist Lou Martin, which raised £120 after being won by an art-loving loca resident.
Margaret has been a patient at the Rosemere Cancer Centre, receiving treatment for breast cancer, and wanted to give something back to the charity that helped fund her care.
