Cumbrians urged to help wildlife through the winter
9:10am Tuesday 5th November 2013 in News
As the nights become colder, a charity is calling on householders to spare a thought for the wildlife outside and follow some top tips to help birds and other creatures through the winter months.
The RSPB is appealing to the residents of Cumbria to lend a helping hand to ensure there is enough food and shelter for wildlife.
Mhairi Maclauchlan, assistant warden at the RSPB’s Hodbarrow reserve, said: “It’s a great time to do all sorts of jobs to give nature a home in your outside space – whether it’s a large garden or a small window box: build or buy a hedgehog shelter, put up nest boxes, dig a pond or tidy up your existing one, or even plant bulbs ready to attract bees and other insects for summer.”
