A FURNESS playgroup celebrated its 40th anniversary by opening its newly refurbished facilities to the public.
The Jack and Jill Preschool Playgroup, based in Drill Hall at Dalton-in-Furness, now has an outside play area, a new kitchen and toilets plus improved heating and lighting.
The revamp has been funded with £36,000 from Cumbria County Council and from the Trustees of the Dalton Community Association.
Coun Anne Burns said: “I’m delighted Cumbria County Council has helped fund the revamp – the facilities really are excellent and will benefit the community for many years to come.”
Claire Round from Jack and Jill Pre-school Playgroup said: “We are so happy to finally have our own dedicated space within the Drill Hall.
“It has taken a lot of hard work and planning from all parties involved, but has been well worth the wait.”
