A CARTMEL care home’s oldest resident has celebrated her 103rd birthday.

Eileen Graham, who is to become a great-grandmother in February, was treated to a special party by staff and residents at Cartmel Old Grammar Care Home.

Mrs Graham was born in Bradford in 1910 and was the middle child of three. She married her husband Stanley in 1935 and had one daughter, Anita, who sadly died in 2003, and one grandson, Mathew.

Mrs Graham worked in the accounts department at Bradford Council until she retired in 1971.

It was then that she and Stanley moved to Grange-over-Sands, where they had enjoyed many holdays together, until Stanley died in 1991.

Mrs Graham has lived in Cartmel Old Grammar Care Home since July of this year, and is described by staff as ‘a very happy, alert and sociable lady’ who was a keen gardener and enjoyed home crafts.
