A UTILITY company was fined £400 for breaching safety requirements while carrying out work in Windermere.
South Lakeland Magistrates’ Court heard how London-based Fulcrum Pipelines Ltd failed to put up temporary traffic lights while working on the gas supply on Biskey Howe Road.
The court was told that the work was being carried out on a bend in the road and a ‘serious incident’ could have occurred because the lights were not in place.
The company pleaded guilty to being in breach of the New Road and Streets Act 1991.
The court also ordered the company to pay £652.29 in costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
