DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a woman was found in a distressed state.

At 3am yesterday, a man on Caton Road in Lancaster found the 22-year-old-woman.

She was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary but police say it is still unclear as to exactly what has happened to her.

Police said an investigation is underway and police are appealing for anybody with any information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Andrew Bunn said: “The circumstances of this incident remain unclear at this time and we are still trying to establish exactly what may have occurred.

“If anybody thinks they may have seen this young woman in the Caton Road area around 3am on Thursday morning and can provide us with information they think could assist our investigation then I would urge them to contact police.

“I am particularly keen to speak with the man who found the woman. We believe he may have been driving a Maxi lorry. If this was you, or you know who this was, then please come forward.”

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

Police say no personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
