A MILNTHORPE pub is experiencing a boost in trade after undergoing a £100,000 refurbishment.
Under new licensee Sylvia Wheeler, the Bull’s Head has seen food introduced for the first time and the four letting rooms have been updated in a contemporary style.
Ms Wheeler, who signed a long-term lease agreement in July this year, said: “This pub means a lot to me and I could always see its potential to be at the heart of the community but had a stream of temporary operators who would come and go. I wanted to take it on and make it my own."
Ms Wheeler, who has been running pubs for 25 years, said she had seen 'a lot of old faces return' as well as new customers from the surrounding villages.
Andrew Stones, Punch Taverns' partnership development manager, said: “It's great to see people who are so passionate about the pub and what it means to the local community take on a Punch pub.
“Sylvia is a fantastic operator with real drive and she has been extremely well-received by the local community. Customers love the choice of food and drink and like that it has remained at good value. The fact that the Sunday roasts sold out for the first two weeks speaks volumes.
“The pub is performing extremely well and I have every confidence that this will continue into the New Year and beyond.”
