ELEVEN south Cumbria teachers visited BAE Systems in Barrow to get an insight into the range of careers the business has to offer.
They were invited into the sub-marine division to learn more about the business and potential careers it offers young people.
The teachers met graduates, trainees and apprentices who talked about starting their careers within the organisation and then took a tour of the site.
Michelle Knott, corporate responsibility adviser at BAE Systems, said: “The visit was arranged to strengthen relationships with the education sector within our community and to try to challenge preconceptions teachers may have had about the careers we offer in the shipyard.
“The teachers went away from the site with lots of information about BAE Systems, which will help when they come to advise their students on career options.”
BAE Systems Maritime is preparing to recruit more than 350 new employees in 2014.
