IT was all smiles in Sedbergh as Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron opened a new state-of-the-art dental surgery in a former Spar shop.

Sedbergh Dental Practice welcomed Mr Farron for a VIP tour of the high street practice – and also gave patients and late night shoppers an opportunity to see the new facilities.

The dental team was on hand to welcome visitors with mulled wine and mince pies and assist with tours.

The practice has been in Sedbergh for 35 years but relocated into the state-of-the-art premises at the end of September.

The new building houses comfortable and spacious patient facilities, four surgeries, a purpose-built decontamination room and full disabled access.

“Building the new practice has meant a great investment for our patients and it’s a huge step forward in what we can offer,” said principal dentist Ben Houghton.

“It’s been a great challenge to have the chance to bring the former derelict Spar supermarket back to community use and it’s wonderful to bring life back to the high street. The reaction we have received from patients has been tremendous.”
