ON CHRISTMAS Eve both the Roxy Ulverston and the Royalty, Bowness, cinemas will screen It's a Wonderful Life, the uplifting 1946 movie starring James Stewart and Donna Reed. Stewart plays a philanthropic businessman who contemplates suicide on Christmas Eve until an angel comes and shows him how empty other people's lives would have been if he had never existed. The Roxy show will be at 11am and the Royalty at 5pm as its final screening of the day: "It's nice to re-show these classic films from time to time," said Royalty and Roxy owner, Charles Morris. "It's A Wonderful Life is our evergreen Christmas Eve treat to put everyone in the mood for Christmas. Those who arrive in good time will also be treated to a mince pie and the show will be complemented by a short presentation of archive clips. I myself will be at both showings as I enjoy the happy atmospere so much."
