A NEW online cycling ‘toolkit’ has been designed to help businesses in Eden to evaluate the potential value of bike tourism and cut carbon emissions.

The Toolkit produced by Nurture Eden gives an overview of cycle tourism in the UK and Europe and provides practical advice on how to promote local business in Eden to an ever-growing cycle tourism market.

Eden is a paradise for cyclists of all abilities including treats for the serious road rider like Hartside and the Orton Fells and for the off-road mountain biker the ultimate Rutter Force and High Cup Nick.

In 2011, total transport emissions in Eden were higher than any other district in Cumbria. They contribute to global warming through carbon dioxide and cause ground–level ozone issues.

The toolkit says businesses should provide details on how to get to the area by train and create special offers for guests who arrive with their bikes by public transport, Visit www.nurtureeden.org where you can download the Cycle Tourism Toolkit.
