CUMBRIA Police are warning local communities to be vigilant when inviting strangers into their homes following a number of suspicious incidents reported in the South Cumbria area.
Police are currently investigating a number of incidents where a man has been found in a victim’s home without invitation.
Descriptions of the men have been of a small build, with grey/black hair wearing casual clothing and being of a tidy appearance.
On each reported occasion, the offender has made off following them being discovered.
Police are asking the public to only let those they know and trust into their properties
Detective Inspector Amanda Sadler said: “Following reports of strangers being found in people’s homes we are urging everybody, especially elderly people, to seek identification of any caller to their door and to not invite people into their home without good reason.
“We also want communities to look out for each other and to report any suspicious activity to Police.”
