A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries after an early morning assault.
Police said the man was attacked at 5.20am today by another man in his twenties at the junction between Verdun Avenue and Anzac Avenue on Walney Island.
The offender is described as being white, 5ft 10 inches tall of athletic build.
Barrow CID is investigating the incident and speaking to people in the vicinity.
Those who have not yet been spoken to by police but have information should contact Barrow CID on 101. Det Sgt Mark Wallace is the investigating officer.
