THE Environment Agency has tonight issued a flood alert in the Lake District.
Following a day of rain, a flood alert - the lowest level of warning - was issued at 6.35pm.
It said there is a risk of flooding of the rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster.
"Following persistent rainfall during the afternoon and evening river levels have started to rise. The rain is expected to ease over the next few hours but river levels may continue to rise. This message will be updated by 9am on Sunday morning."
