A NORTH Lancashire school’s breakfast club has been judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

The club, which operates before and after school at Wilson’s Endowed CE, Over Kellet, has been praised for being ‘warm and welcoming’ for children who have access to ‘extensive resources and activities’.

Headteacher and club director Jo Williams said: “We work hard to provide a happy and safe environment for the children attending the club.

“I am thrilled for the club that Ofsted have recognised how much the children enjoy it and how well-cared for they are. We aim to cherish the children and give them a fun time with us.”

The club opened in September 2001 and has since also welcomed children from neighbouring Nether School and the Over Kellet Playgroup.

In the past 12 months, pupils from three schools in Carnforth have begun using the Over Kellet club, after the closure of their own.

Ofsted inspector Sandra Harwood said in her report: “Children’s enthusiasm to attend the club is shown in the way they bound excitedly into the club.

“Staff are extremely well qualified and committed.”

Youngsters, Alessia and Jessica, both aged six, said they ‘really enjoy’ attending the after-school club.
