A COMICAL re-telling of the Christmas story entertained crowds in Kendal on Saturday.
Kendal Community Theatre presented its version of the ancient Kendal Shepherds’ Play at several locations across town, including K Village, the Birdcage and the Westmorland Shopping Centre.
The theatre group started life in 2011 to explore a wide range of radical performing styles. Its latest ten-minute performance was accompanied by music from Lakeland Voices and Kendal Concert Band’s Trombonistas.
The origins of the play performed at the weekend are shrouded in mystery. This version referred to Kendal pubs, and rather grumpy shepherds, who the group described as ‘definitely Cumbrian!’
