THE renowned Bolshoi Ballet will appear on the giant cinema screen at Eden’s Rheged centre next week.

The Moscow company’s performance of Sleeping Beauty, specially shot in high definition for the big screen, begins at 6.30pm on Monday. More Bolshoi Ballet performances will be shown in January, February and March.

The Bolshoi broadcasts also treat the audience to a look behind the scenes of the world’s most renowned ballet company, founded in 1776.

The 2013-2014 Bolshoi in cinemas season will be broadcasted live or near live in over 1,000 cinemas across the world and at Rheged will include performances of Jewels, Lost Illusions and The Golden Age.

Rheged manager Michael Pemberton said: “We are very excited about the opportunity to stream world class ballet at Rheged. We have the largest cinema screen north of Manchester and all the performances will fill this screen, so you almost feel like you are there."
