FIREFIGHTERS are investigating the cause of a fire at a Lancashire garage.

Six fire engines were called to Woodland Motors on Station Lane, Scorton, near Lancaster, at 11.43am today (Thursday).

Several gas cylinders containing acetylene - which is commonly used for welding - were inside and a 200 metre exclusion zone was put in place.

The A6 between The New Holly pub and Cabus was closed to traffic in both directions until around 3.45pm.

Fire crews from Lancaster, Morecambe, Garstang, Preston and Fulwood were in attendance and made the area safe before lifting the cordon around 3.30pm.
