POLICE have warned motorists to only travel if necessary after a spate of accidents in South Cumbria tonight.
Officers were first called out at 6.09pm to a two vehicle collision on the M6 Northbound near Kendal.
And then at 6.21pm following a three vehicle collision on the A590 Eastbound near Milnthorpe and a minute later to a one vehicle collision at Blawith, Ulverston.
Collisions followed at 6.31pm following a two vehicle collision on the M6 Southbound near Kendal and at 6.34pm to a two vehicle collision at Lindale.
A police spokesman said: "There are believed to be no serious injuries at this time in any of the five collisions however Police want to take this opportunity ask motorists to drive only if necessary.
"If you have to travel please slow down and drive with care. The roads are very icy and motorists must adjust to this."
