Archbishop praises pupils
3:34pm Friday 20th December 2013 in News
THE Archbishop of York revealed he was ‘very impressed’ when he met pupils from three North Yorkshire schools.
Dr John Sentamu had nothing but praise for youngsters from Austwick, Clapham and Horton-in-Ribblesdale when he addressed 100 of them at Austwick Primary School.
“In the schools and church projects I’ve visited in the diocese, there is a consistent, underlying belief that everybody is known, and valued, and everybody has a responsibility,” he said.
“I’ve been very impressed by what I’ve seen.”
Accompanied by the Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Rev Nick Bains, the Archbishop tucked into a lunch of sausages and mash and sticky toffee pudding, before enjoying a performance from the orchestra of the three confederate schools.
“It was a huge honour for us and recognition of the work we do together as a confederation,” said headteacher Gill Woods.
“The children thought he was lovely, very jolly and interesting.”
