The Westmorland Gazette: Mr Farron joins the volunteers of St John's Hospice Mr Farron joins the volunteers of St John's Hospice

SOUTH Lakes MP Tim Farron joined volunteers to bag pack at Booths in Windermere to raise funds for St John’s Hospice.

Mr Farron recently worked with volunteers in the hospice's shop in Kendal to clean furniture to make it suitable for sale.

St John's Hospice has nine charity shops in the Lancaster, Morecambe and Kendal areas - raising vital income for the hospice and a presence in the community which supports them.

Mr Farron said “It was great to join the volunteers and raise vital funds for St John’s Hospice. They offer amazing care which is compassionate and of highest quality. I regularly lobby Government ministers to do more to support local hospices and I was pleased to support them."

Perhaps that was why Booths car park was grid locked this morning - people trying to escape this self publicity exercise

My friend Carolyn, and lots of her friends, were packing bags at Morrisons to raise money for the hydrotherapy pool in Kendal, an extremely worthy cause. No mention of that by the Gazette. Not even a photo. I didn't avail myself of this service, packed my own bag and gave them a fiver - not even a short paragraph.
Please can the WG desist from Tim worship. Hundreds of people do things like this, every day, and do not expect publicity and gratitude.

I see they've deleted my comment about Tim packing his own bags.
Agree with Laker1, A self publicity exercise.
