CELEBRITY weight loss DVDS are the most unwanted Christmas gift for people in the North West, according to a survey.

Thirty seven per cent admitted this would be their most unwanted gift, says the British Heart Foundation.

Coming in at a close second was onesies - named by (32%) followed by the Christmas jumper (12%).

Other unwanted items include a celebrity cook book and socks.

The main culprits for giving unwanted Christmas gifts were also highlighted with grandparents coming out on top (14%), followed by Mums (10%) and partners (6%).

North West BHF shops are urging the public to donate their unwanted Christmas gifts this year to help fund life-saving research.

Unwanted presents provide valuable stock to the BHF’s network of over 700 shops.

Last Christmas, North West BHF shops received a surge in donations of candles, toiletries, clothing, accessories, books and DVDs.

June Wrench, BHF shops area manager, commented: “It’s interesting to see that as many as 59% of North West people receive unwanted Christmas gifts every year. People often receive perfectly good gifts that are just not to their taste, are the wrong size, or even two of the same gift.

“We encourage people to donate these items to North West BHF shops so that unwanted Christmas gifts can help in the fight against heart disease. Heart disease is still the UK’s single biggest killer with 2.3 million people currently living with the devastating effects. Every penny of profit raised from North West BHF shops helps to fund vital, life-saving research into this deadly disease.”
