THE King’s Food Bank in Kendal has been able to buy a £450 laptop computer – thanks to cash from the charitable foundation of the Cumberland Building Society.
The food bank, set up in February 2012, provides food boxes containing three to four days of non-perishable food to people who are temporarily unable to provide for themselves due to a crisis. It has already provided 16,065 meals to people in the town.
Manager Rachel Ellis said: “The laptop will help us enormously in running the food bank. We have a strong team of volunteers who are all dedicated to making a real difference in Kendal and helping to combat poverty in the town.
“We are supported by many individuals, churches, companies, schools and organisations whose judgement we rely on to identify genuine cases of need.”
