SOUTH Cumbria firefighters had another busy round of incidents to deal with yesterday, including domestic fires and building damage caused by the high winds.

In South Lakeland crews were called to a cooker fire at a house in Fern Bank, Windermere, and a rubbish fire in a garden fire at Hollins Row, Burneside.

In Barrow-in-Furness, the service was called to secure unsafe structures in two incidents caused by the high winds. In the first, they made safe a dangerous chimney on Whitehead Street and in the second a fire crew secured a building in North Row after a roof blew off one property and landed on a neighbouring flat roof.
