AN EDEN company is in the running for the title of Britain’s Best Bakery.
Appleby Bakery is vying for the title with two other Cumbrian bakeries - Muffin Top Boutique Bakery, Whitehaven, and Crags Country Bakery, Carlisle.
They will compete with each other in a return series of ITV’s daytime show Britain’s Best Bakery, which makes its second run from January 6.
Expert judges, including Cumbrian TV chef Peter Sidwell, will be sampling the delicacies of the country’s favourite independent, family run and community bakeries - tasting and critiquing their way through breads, cakes, pastries and pies.
From January 26, Cumbrian viewers will get the chance to root for the county’s three competing bakeries.
Last year, Broughton Village Bakery won both the Lake District and the northern regional finals before being pipped at the post in the national final.
