A WALKER was stretchered from a Lake District fell after slipping and breaking her ankle on New Years Day.
The woman from, Chesterfield in Derbyshire, was descending Great Mell Fell about 1.30pm when she slipped on wet grass.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out after her companion made her way from the hill to call for help.
The team reached the scene on foot and treated the casualty on the hill, giving her pain relief and putting a splint on her injured leg.
The woman was then stretchered off the fell to an ambulance which took her to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for further treatment.
