MOTORCYCLING legend John McGuinness has paid a surprise visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow.

Racing hero John – known as the Morecambe Missile for his record of 20 Isle of Man TT race winds – went along to check out four of his racing machines which take pride of place in the attraction’s tribute to the world-famous TT event.

John was also the first man in the event’s illustrious history to complete a lap of the island circuit at an average speed of 130mph lap record.

He took along four times World Sidecar Champion and 2013 Isle of Man Sidecar TT Winner Tim Reeves, to the attraction to enjoy the exhibition, where the motorcycling heroes browsed more than 80 other motorcycles as part of the museum’s wider collection.
