TIME is ticking for nominations for the ‘Your Health Hero’ awards run by the Morecambe Bay hospitals trust.

Names must be submitted before the end of the month if a member of staff, volunteer, governor and fundraiser at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust (UHMBT) is to be recognised for their outstanding service.

“Last year’s Your Health Heroes Awards were a great success, and I am thrilled they are returning for a second year,” said Jackie Daniel, chief executive of UHMBT.

“It really is important to us that our local communities have their say, which is why we welcome nominations from absolutely anyone – staff, governors, fundraisers and members of the public. “

The trust runs Furness General Hospital, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

Since the awards were launched in December nominations have flooded in across 13 categories: innovation, doctor of the year, nurse of the year, midwife of the year, team of the year, special achievement, patient safety, behind the scenes, fundraiser of the year, volunteer of the year, registered professional of the year, student/trainee of the year and supporting the organisation.

More information on the awards and how to nominate can be found on the trust’s website at www.uhmb.nhs.uk Nominations close on January 31.

Three finalists will be selected for each category and they will be invited to an awards ceremony on March 20 at the Abbey House Hotel in Barrow.
