Police have confirmed that a man tragically died this morning following the road traffic collision on the A595, near Carlisle.

 

At 7:57 am police were called to a collision between a car and a HGV on the A595 between Cardewlees and Nealhouse junction.

 

The HGV, a tanker transporting milk, was driven by a man aged 64 from Fletchertown. He was uninjured.

 

Police officers are in the process of tracing the deceased man’s family.

 

The road will main closed while Collision Investigation officers examine the area.

 

Diversion routes for vehicles travelling east into the city are B5303 from Red Dial to the M6 at junction 41 and North.

For vehicles travelling west from Carlisle is Dalston B5299 onto the B5305 to Red Dial and west.
