Updated 3:15pm Tuesday 21st January 2014 in News
LAST-minute Christmas shopping paid off for one Kendal man after the dash saw him win a £5,000 ring.
Matt Webster, 38, headed to H Hogarth Jewellers on Christmas Eve to buy wife Nicola a present, and entered his name into the shop’s 90th Anniversary draw.
Owner of the Branthwaite Brow shop, Graeme Hogarth, said: “We’ve had a draw every month of the year and everyone then got entered into this one for the big prize.
" Thousands of people joined in, and it has been a great way to celebrate our 90 years of trading.”
Mrs Webster, 39, said she was ‘very pleased’ with the sparkler.
“It was worthwhile him coming in, and made up for the last minute shopping!” she added.
