A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an alleged incident in Ulverston.
Cumbria Police said the 18-year-old was arrested after a female, 17, reported to Barrow Police Station yesterday alleging that she had been sexually assaulted in the area of Market Street at 2.30am Sunday morning.
Detectives said that following enquiries, the local man was arrested and is now helping police with their enquiries.
Police have asked anyone who was out in Ulverston on Saturday night and may have been making their way home across Market Street between 1am and 2am, and may have heard or seen something suspicious, to contact Cumbria Police on 101 and speak to the on duty Sergeant at Barrow CID.
