THOUSANDS of Cumbrians have signed petitions or written letters opposing county council proposals to cut bus service subsidies.
The move could affect 43 daytime services, including the Kendal town 44, Windermere town 597 and Ulverston town 70, 17 evening services and 10 on Sundays.
The proposals are designed to save Cumbria County Council £2 million of the £24.4m of cuts which the authority says have been brought about as a result of a reduction imposed by central government.
