WORK has begun on an Aldi supermarket in Carnforth that will create five full-time and 20 part-time jobs.

The tills could be ringing by the end of the year at the store on Scotland Road.

Permission was granted for the work on the former Norman Jackson site in July.

It will involve demolishing the existing workshops and building a new shop and car park.

Mike Clarke, regional property director for ALDI Stores, said: “Since beginning work on this site, we have worked hard with Pendle Projects, local stakeholders and our immediate commercial neighbours to deliver a scheme that will add significant benefits to the town.”

The store is expected to open from 8am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 6pm on Sunday.
