RICHARD Thornton’s CE primary school is marking its 160th anniversary next Friday (Jan 31) with a special open day.
From 10am to 3pm, everyone is invited to the exhibition, titled ‘Who was Richard Thornton?’, where displays of the children’s work, old photographs and more about the school’s history will be on show.
There will also be a Dragons’ Den type competition for families.
Headteacher Chris Norris said: “We hope that all members of the village community and people from further afield will take this opportunity to visit the school and re-live a bygone age.”
* A report in The Westmorland Gazette this week incorrectly stated the open day was taking place on January 23. We apologise for the error.
