A 14-foot-tall giant has been the star of a local pantomime.

Theatre group, the Lakes Players, have been putting on a production of Jack and the Beanstalk this month – including an impressive villain of the piece.

The Windermere-based group uses professional sets, costumes and props from the Imagine Theatre Coventry, alongside professional lighting and sound provided by Paul Gavin and Sam Panter. Nearly 1700 people have seen the production staged at the Lakes School which is directed by Stewart Hart with the acting, singing and dancing by the cast supported by dancers from the Maria Frances school of dance.

A spokesman said: “Every year the show gets bigger and better, but it will be hard to beat this year’s 14 foot giant as it thunders around the stage.”

The show runs until Sunday January 26.

Tickets are available, although selling out fast, online at www.lakesplayers.co.uk or from the Royal Oak, Bowness.
