A SOUTH Lakeland on-farm dispersal sale attracted large crowds and high prices.

More than 700 people attended the sale at Ravenwinder Farm, Flookburgh, conducted by the Crooklands and Lancaster based North West Auctions group.

The sale got off to a good start with more than 250 lots of well-main-tained workshop tools quickly going under the hammer.

There was a similar number of large items in the field which attracted keen bidding from both local and well-travelled buyers.

Prices achieved reflec-ted the high level of care and maintenance that had been lavished on the equipment, said a spokes-man for NWA.

One of the top results was £12,400 for a JCB Telehandler, while a New Holland tractor sold for £10,050 and two Massey Ferguson tractors made £8,600 and £7,900.

Auctioneers Matthew Probert and John Hughes said there was keen bidding for all lots with some making ‘nearly new’ prices.

“We sold everything from rusty nails to shiny tractors in the four-and-a-half hour sale at Ravenwinder Farm,” said Mr Probert.

“All aspects of it went very well from the parking of hundreds of cars on boggy land to the loading of items”
