TALKS on a watery theme are being staged by green campaigners Windermere Reflections next week.

On Tuesday (Feb 4) staff from United Utilities will answer the mystery of what happens to water once it has gone down the plug hole.

“Wastewater treatment has changed over the years in the Windermere catchment and presents challenges for the future,” said programme manager Liz Davey.

“How we stop pollutants reaching our precious rivers and lakes is of concern to all of us, and we hope that this will be a really helpful and informative evening.”

The talk is at Esquires coffee shop in Ambleside at 6.30pm.

On Wednesday evening (Feb 5) at 6pm Allan Pentecost, of the Freshwater Biological Association, will lead a discussion about blue-green algae, and the problems arising when this occurs in the lake.

This will be held at the FBA headquarters at the Ferry Landing, Far Sawrey.
