SOUTH Lakeland bloggers are to join forces to take part in a mammoth relay for Sport Relief.

Becky Willoughby and her two children will form the Kendal leg of a 3,000-mile plus ‘Team Honk’ fund-raising trip from Cornwall to Scotland.

She will be accompanied by daughter Elisabeth, 10, and son Oliver, seven, as they don their ‘onesies’ for a 66-mile trip for the nationwide appeal.

Becky, of the Lakes Single Mum blog, said: “The children and I like doing things for other people and are very excited.

“Because they wanted to be involved we decided to drive – but wearing fancy dress.”

Although driving the majority of their relay leg, the family will run at Kendal Castle, Brough Castle and Barnard Castle and Becky says: “People are more than welcome to join in by cheering us on and sponsoring us”

The ‘Team Honk’ baton started its journey at Land’s End and will finish up at John O’Groats.

Becky, 43, and her children will pick it up at Kendal Town Hall on March 14 and must deliver it to Darlington’s Bowes Museum the following day.

The 26.2-mile Morecambe to Kendal leg will be completed by Kirstie Pelling and Stuart Wickes, from Burton-in-Kendal, who will use five different types of transport – micro-scooter, kayak, cross country running, cycling and swimming.

For parts of the journey they will be accompanied by one or more of their children Matthew 13, Cameron, 11, and Hannah, eight.

l Sport Relief will also see TV presenter Davina McCall head north to brave the waters of Windermere and climb Scafell Pike as part of a ‘Davina - Beyond Breaking Point’ challenge.
