TELEVISION star Davina McCall will head to the Lake District as part of the biggest physical challenge of her life.

The presenter will brave the freezing cold waters of Windermere before climbing Scafell Pike in aid of this year’s Sport Relief.

‘Davina — Beyond Breaking Point’, will also see the 46-year-old tackle a 130-mile cycle ride and a full marathon, taking her from Edinburgh to London under her own steam in just seven days.

She will be joined by female celebrities to raise money for women living incredibly tough lives.

“When I first started training for this challenge, I cried every day for a fortnight. My body’s not built for an endurance challenge of this scale, and I’m absolutely terrified of open water and I can't run,” said Davina. “But no matter how tough it gets, I just keep thinking it's nothing compared to the struggles the women I've met in Kenya have to live through. Thinking of them will be the thing that keeps me going when things get tough, and I know every penny I raise will really make such a massive difference to people’s lives. I’m doing this for the girls,” she added.

The ordeal will start in Edinburgh on February 8 and finish in London on February 14. It has yet to be confirmed when the celebrity will pass through Cumbria.

And South Lakeland bloggers will do their bit for Sport Relief as they join in the social media fundraising ‘Team Honk’.

Burton-in-Kendal’s Kirstie Pelling and Stuart Wickes, of The Family Adventure Project Blog, will help the team’s baton on its way from Land’s End to John O’Groats as they use five different modes of human-powered transport to take it from Morecambe to Kendal.

Becky Willoughby, of Kendal, and her two children, Elisabeth, 10, and Oliver, seven, will then take it from the Auld Grey Town to Darlington.

Miss Willoughby, of the Lakes Single Mum blog, said: “The children and I like doing things for other people and are very excited. Because they wanted to be involved we decided to drive, but wearing fancy dress. People are more than welcome to join in.”
