A WINDERMERE father has been jailed for four months after he admitted assaulting three men, including two police officers.
South Lakeland magistrates heard that Carl George Hodgson, 30, of Ambleside Road, launched a ‘completely unprovoked’ attack on a man who stepped out of a taxi on December 20.
Two policemen who went to arrest him pinned him up against the railings of the Methodist Church, said Lisa Hine, prosecuting.
“A number of people were trying to get the officers off him,” she said. “They had to let go for their own safety.
“Hodgson then grabbed one of the officers to the throat and punched the other twice.”
In police interview, Hodgson said he had drunk 10 pints of lager and could not remember much about the evening.
In mitigation, Rachel Broughton said: “He has had a lot of issues over the years with various substances.
“All three assaults were born out of alcohol and he knows this needs addressing.”
