A TEENAGER was allegedly assaulted in broad daylight in Kendal this afternoon (Wednesday).

Cumbria Police said at around 1.30pm the 17-year-old man was walking towards Shap Road, when a dark coloured car parked on the grass verge between the Duke of Cumberland car park and Harry’s Pantry.

Police said two large males called the victim over to the car and asked him for directions.

Following a brief conversation the passenger was said to have got out of the car and assaulted the victim, who sustained minor injuries.

The car, described as a dark coloured 4x4, then left up Shap Road, towards Morrisons.

The passenger is described as a white male around 5ft8", stocky, with short sandy coloured hair at the back and sides but longer on top, with ginger/fair stubble. He spoke with an Irish accent and was wearing a dark coloured jumper and dark trousers.

The driver is described as a white male with black hair that is short at the sides and long on top and wearing a black jumper.

Detective Superintendent Andy Lamb said: "We take any reports of violence very seriously, and are keen to trace the men described above.

"It would have been busy around 1:30pm this afternoon, so I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, or the vehicle and/or men described above, to get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask for Barrow CID, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
