Icy road warning after cyclist seriously injured in Ulverston

CUMBRIA Police are advising motorists to drive with care as icy conditions affect the county’s roads.

The warning comes after a man was seriously injured this morning after skidding on ice and coming off his bike on Urswick Road, Ulverston.

He has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the incident, which happened at around 8.30am.

The road was closed for a short time but is due to reopen soon.

Police are advising that some of the county’s roads are icy, especially the back roads.

Motorists are being asked to take care to avoid these back roads wherever possible.
