CHILDREN at Flookburgh CE Primary School think that learning outside the classroom is ‘tree-mendous’ after receiving a boost to their wildlife area from the Co-operative.

The donation of £410 supports school plans to develop its wildlife area with mini-beasts and night time creatures designed to foster knowledge and understanding of the environment.

Head teacher Chris Brooksbank said: “We are delighted with this support. It is a big boost to our fund-raising and supports our aim to continually enhance the facilities and resources available for children. The wildlife area is a great way for our children to understand more about animals and nature in a fun way.”

Other local groups helped by the Co-op membership community fund include Ulverston Rangers FC, which received £500, and Swarthmoor Community Group.
