A DISABILITY trust has been awarded the High Sheriff’s Shield for its dedication to children and adults with disabilities across Cumbria.
Annie Mawson, Sunbeams Music Trust’s founder and chief executive, was presented with the award by Diana Matthews, the High Sheriff of Cumbria.
“The work which Annie and her staff do enriches the lives of so many,” said Ms Matthews. “Sunbeams is one of the special treasures of this county and richly deserves our support.”
Sunbeams Music Trust provides music as a therapy to more than 1,400 people with disabilities from the age of three to 105 across the county, including sessions in Kendal, Ulverston and Barrow.
Ms Mawson was given the award at Sandgate School, Kendal, where she first started her sessions 21 years ago.
