CUMBRIA’S first Police & Crime Commissioner will address next Wednesday’s meeting of the Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale Neighbourhood Forum.

Richard Rhodes will talk about his role and various responsibilities such as setting policing priorities, preparing the police and crime plan and engaging with communities across Cumbria.

Also attending the forum will be Elaine Gilliard from the County Council Archive Service. She will explain how the archives of many families, businesses, local societies and schools help to form a fascinating record of all aspects of life in the county.

Representatives from the local police and the district council will outline and respond to any questions or comments on the arrangements for transition of travellers through South Lakeland before, during and after the 2014 Appleby Horse Fair.

There will also be updates on the roadworks on the A683 at Cautley, the Fibre GarDen project and Kirkby Lonsdale Volunteer Driver Scheme plus an opportunity to raise any issues in the local area and propose topics for discussion at future forum meetings.

The forum will take place on Wednesday March 5 at Barbon Village Hall, starting at 7pm.

Neighbourhood Forums are public meetings and all are welcome.
