ONE thousand cyclists will take to the streets on Sunday (Feb 2) for a gruelling challenge - just short of 60 miles.

Cycling enthusiasts taking part in the second Eden Valley Epic Sportive event will start at Penrith Leisure Centre.

From there they will head south to Orton, stopping for refreshments in Appleby, the half way point.

The circular route will then take the bikers back up to Penrith via Crosby Ravensworth.

It is estimated that it will take the riders between three and seven hours to complete the course.
