A KENDAL teenager is making a name for himself as an apprentice at an iconic Cumbrian tourist attraction.
Despite achieving a string of A and A* GCSE grades, Joe Clements opted to complete a practical horticultural apprenticeship at Myerscough College, near Preston.
And following a period of work experience at Levens Hall, the 18-year-old was given the chance to do the work-based aspect of his course at the historic house and gardens.
Joe said: "I think an apprenticeship is a way to gain more skills and experience compared to being in a classroom.
"Learning practical skills on the job is much more credible, especially when looking at further job options."
Joe is working alongside former Blue Peter gardener Chris Crowder, who is now head gardener at Levens Hall.
